Spices and herbs at the Farmers Market....Penzey's look out!
Spices are so important to add the flair, flavor, zest, and savviness to Czech foods. Every time we have come back from the Czech Republic we have brought spice mixes and used them as rubs on BBQ ribs, various meat dishes and the like. They're also delightful in soups. They are all very fresh in flavor and color, so a little goes a long way. Here's a vendor the other day selling their various types of spices and herbs (many with česnek, of course!). We'll learn about using these as we course through meals here. Our friends and colleagues will help us learn about their uses. In the meantime, we've purchased several types that we'll be making into our own creations melding American and Czech cuisine together in new ways...
