After the parade was over in Plastovice, we gathered down on the field to enjoy dancing, music, beer, food, and watch the firefighters. The historic 1925 fire engine was brought in by a team of horses and the classically-dressed firefighters managed to get the engine started (wow!), and start pumping water up from the nearby stream to a holding tank that could be used as a reservoir for the fire fighting exercise. The fireman lighted the big bon fire (isn't that a bit odd....??) and as soon as it was roaring away (that did take some doing), they began pumping water to put it out.
Were they successful??
